What is your monthly or weekly budget for groceries? I think I'm spending WAY too much! (Probably because I really dislike -not using the "h" word- Walmart). If this is too personal ignore me or leave an anonymous comment :)
Also, tonight Kane said, "Hey mom, pull my finger". He said he learned it from Will :)

Steph,
I recently bumped my budget to $140 a week. I use this budget for everything at the grocery store, including toiletries, and even eating out. I find that some weeks I spend every dime! But the week that follows I might not use as much. It seems to work for us. And sometimes I'm feeding 8 people. It's crazy. Budgeting stinks. Right?! Hopefully this helps. I don't know if I'm way over spending compared to other people, so it would be interesting to see others comments.... if they dare. :)
LOL!!! I am soo soo sorry!!! You can thank Jarion for the finger pull trick!
We used to have $500 per month. I have realized I can cut back hugely on this, when I need to. (Is hugely a word?) Its amazing how much unNEEDED crap I can buy. It should be my profession.
I get $200 per week. This is to feed a family of 6 (including Daren who eats enough for 6, Jameson who eats enough for 5, Ethan who eats enough for..ok you get it), going out to eat, clothes, cleaning supplies, diapers...pretty much everything - except gas.
I am living off my parents right now, but before I spent about $75.00 per week or $300.00 per month. That was anything I bought from Walmart or Costco. But I had a freezer full of meat from my parents and never really had to buy meat which is usually the most expensive thing to buy. That did not include eating out for us. Doran ate out every day at work and then we did about once a week as a family. Hope this helps.
Being on BFL plan I know it's a lot!! I feel like I am at the store everyday!! I don't really keep track I am not much of a help sorry.
Oh I love this...I've always wondered too!! Right now for our family of six I'm suppossed to be spending $500 a month on groceries (Costco, cleaning supplies, etc). That doesn't include eating out...but I guess it really should and I guess I am probably over spending...but sshh don't tell Jerry!!
I try to keep my spending to under $100 a week, plus one meal out a week. That includes all my spending at the store except for diapers (I only buy diapers at Walmart, but I refuse to buy food there). I don't think I save any money at WalMart (except on diapers), and I really don't like their company policies.
There was a time when I was spending $800 a month on groceries. That's when I use to keep track...now it could be more...should be less. MAN! Why did you ask this question!? Now I feel the need to budget. :-)
PS I'm pretty sure most of that money went to non-food items...I don't feel like we ever have THAT much food in the house. I spent a LOT less when I make a menu.
So, uh...you asked the question and we answered, now it's your turn ;)
Okay, I'm asking because I have never kept track! I spend A LOT at the grocery store, I love to buy new lotion and make-up even when I don't need it. And I usually buy 1-2 DVD's a month at the grocery store, that adds like $40/month. What I really need to do is make a menu then shop. Sometimes I'll spend over $100 and get home and wonder what to make for dinner!
I totally agree with what YOU wrote. I don't keep track, but I totally need to. We spend WAY too much on food....and then I'm always running to the store for "just one thing". :o) I need to do the menu thing, and stick to it. (yeah, right...) I need some budgeting HELP.
I spend $200 a week, that's for everything. That doesn't include the $300 I spend each month at Costco. Plus, I have a freezer full of beef. I SUCK! I know I need to cut back, but it's hard considering how expensive my SPECIAL food is and the cost of everything is going UP. Chris
When we just had two kids our budget was $80-$100 a month. Now it is $250. I'm a sell shopper.
I recently had to rearrange my food budget. I use to be able to spend 75 a week now it's about 100-125 a week for food.
Good question! I had to check our Quicken reports to figure it out. It looks like I'm averaging around $150 a week which includes all food, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, etc. This doesn't include eating out.
I could not even begin to calculate our food budget. I spend way too much on everything I do know that.
To answer your question...I live in "shadow mountain" its sorta more by Santa Clara. Do your friends live there?
