Self-Esteem

I've been having some issues with my self-esteem lately. I imagine most of us do from time to time. I often catch myself thinking of everything I don't like about myself, my weight, I am a procrastinator, I lose my temper too easily, feeling jealous, etc. Why is it so hard, or maybe it feels vain, to think of the things I love about myself. So I actually made a list. I think I am honest, loyal, funny, I like to talk to people, I am laid back, I am a good mom and wife.
A friend asked me to name something other people love about me. It was really hard for me to come up with something. So I asked them (my husband included) to tell me a couple things they love about me. Wow, I have felt so much better about myself the past few days! There's something comforting about knowing that both of my sisters think I have a nice rack! They did say more than that :) My husband came up with a great list of reasons he loves me too.
I added all of these to my written list. What a great thing to look at when I'm feeling bad about myself. The list of things I love about myself and the things other people love about me (physical things included is a big plus).
So, I am encouraging all of you to do the same. Maybe even in a blog. Ask people to tell you something they love about you. I think even just one adjective can be pretty powerful.

PEACEFUL. (you know I could go on)

I am proud of you for writing this! That is a good idea. Plus its fun for us to think of why we really do appreciate our loved ones, and TELL them! We all should do this!

Well, you do have a nice rack. Its hilarious we both told you!

That's so great you blogged this! I need to follow your example. I just suppress all the bad feelings about myself until I have several days of insanity then begin the suppression process again. I'm on day 40 of suppression now so the insanity days are due any time now.
Hmm, interesting. I just got it all out on your blog so now I don't have to on mine right?

Now that my self absorption post is done here is my post for you. I'm so glad you made that list. I hope some of the things I added helped a little because I think you are amazing!

I laughed so hard about me & Heidi commenting about your rack- well really the funny part is how you put it on your blog. That is a great post. And a fabulous idea.

You have GREAT hair, I envy your hoodie collection and you are easy to talk too and real. You aren't phony whatsoever. Good idea!

Okay, here's a physical thing I thought of right off....Your hair is GORGEOUS! And I've always thought you had a pretty smile that is really warm and friendly-just like you! Great idea!

I loved this post!! I just may have to copy you!! I've been "copying" a lot lately....because I've had a hard time thinking of interesting things to write about. hee hee One thing I would say about YOU is that you are REAL. You are also so grounded...and down to earth. For as pretty and "together" as you are....that's a rare thing. :o) You DO have fantastic hair, too. That seems to be a consensus. ha ha Oh ya, and I guess I have something else to be jealous of you for, too....(the rack) ha ha Hope things are going well. I'm waiting for a call from you to come help you with your house...... Maybe you have enough help, but I'm here, if you need me. Really, I hope you don't care if I steal your cute idea for the blog post. I really, really do have a horrible habit of being so negative about myself....so I think this is awesome. Have a good week.

Great post. I think we all could use a bit of self-esteem. Its so easy to get mired down in the negative - it takes effort to focus on the good stuff.

Okay, something I love about you is that you are so easy to talk to and you are not judgemental of others. I think you are so funny and I always loved going to playgroup at your house (back in the day) because you were so laid back and always had cute things for the kids to do/eat and it was fun to sit and chat. And last but not least - gorgeous hair and pretty eyes!!!

One thing I always admired about you when I'd go visiting teaching to your house was that it was always clean (even when we caught you by surprise)- how do you do it?

Also, I always admired what a good mom you were to Kane (I'm sure you are to the others, but I only saw you with Kane when we visited) - I always loved hearing about the fun stuff you'd do with him (like making treasure maps). Okay, now I wish you hadn't moved!

We didn't get to know each other very well when we lived so close, however what I've learned about you from your blog and through other people is that you are a wonderful person and an amazing mom!! I consider you my friend even if we really have never talked one on one and that to me means a lot!! I think you are so cute, and I will go along with everyone and say you have beautiful hair!! Hey I went private and I don't have your email (I don't know if I've already asked for it yet), I would love to invite you!!

I was so excited that I thought of something that no one else had, then I read Anne Marie's. She beat me too it. I agree with what everyone said, but on the outside I love your eyes. On the inside, you are a very thoughtful person, a great friend, and mother. I've always been impressed that you've taken Kasey in as your own. It takes a very selfless person to do that. Luv ya, Chris M.

I agree with what some others have said in that you have great hair and are refreshing to read cuase you keep it real. Plus you are really nice...I know that may sound like the most normal, non-original thing to say but I really do feel that there is something in your personality that exudes nice-ness so people can feel comfortable around you.

Ok, I love how honest you are and that you always seem confident. I know (now) reading your blog that may not be true, but could have fooled me! I envy that in people because I am always worried what other people are REALLY thinking of me. I need to get over it! See ya at Smith's =) Tara
